LBC chums at 2:48 pm

LBC continues to go from strength to strength. I left the station through choice in 2015 after being offered a contract with BBC Radio London which I accepted as I felt the time was right to do some more varied broadcasting. I made some good chums at LBC and Steve Allen remains one of the most original broadcasters on UK radio. Here’s a pic taken one hazy Friday afternoon after vast quantities of gin and vodka had been imbibed (can you tell?). Other talent in the shot includes my former producers James (left) and Sam (right). The former is living out his dream as a poet in some far flung corner of the globe, the latter is doing big things in international media. The gentleman on the far left is Steve (staying up way past his bedtime)….

Goldie at 2:36 pm

One of the great things about BBC Radio London is the variety of guests the station attracts. I am a big music fan so spending 40 minutes chatting with Drum & Bass icon Goldie was a real pleasure. A lot of our chat was about how jazz influenced his music and the power of yoga (!). When we spoke he was gigging at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and was promoting his album ‘The Journey Man’ was is definitely worth getting hold of.

Up All Night at 2:31 pm

‘Up All Night’ on BBC Radio Five Live is one of my favourite radio programmes. It’s a joy to present as it involves talking to people around the world about the latest international news. As well as being broadcast on Five Live’s frequencies, it can be heard on the BBC local radio network on their FM transmitters as well as being broadcast by BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio Wales. A serious highlight was a 30 minute interview with the Henry Kissinger, the American political scientist, diplomat and geopolitical consultant.
